Serengeti Teas & Provisions has signed a lease for 3,800 square feet at the Union Crossing development in the Bronx.
The retailer will take a lobby space at 825 E. 141st St.
Union Crossing is in the Port Morris neighborhood of the Bronx, located off Bruckner Boulevard. It’s an eight-story, 268,000-square-foot Class A office building. It’s close to the 2 and 6 subway lines, as well as bus lines and the Metro North commuter railroad.
Serengeti sells coffees, teas, cocoas and spices. Its founder, Doughba Hamilton Caranda-Martin, started the store with an African tea boutique in upper Manhattan. Serengeti Teas & Provisions now has a tasting room on East 125th Street in Harlem.
The retailer will relocate its production facility to its new space at Union Crossing. It will also open a café and retail shop there.
Hamilton Caranda-Martin said the new space represents the next step in the Serengeti brand.
“This space will allow us to scale production of our current products and will also provide the necessary platform for new product development,” he said in a statement.
Madison Realty Capital, the Altmark Group, the Bluestone Group and Galil Management are the partners behind the Union Crossing development.
“We are excited to welcome Serengeti Teas & Provisions to the space and anticipate that their shop will bring in much foot traffic to the new up-and-coming area of South Bronx,” said Eli Tabak, CEO and co-founder of the Bluestone Group, in a statement. “We welcome all businesses, small and large, to come and enjoy the thriving area of Port Morris.”
